Prior to the interviews, I was slightly concerned that the responses would all be centered around the same resources, making the presentation dull and tedious. However, upon conducting the interviews I was reminded of how many different methods there are to facilitate learning. I found myself truly inspired by many of the ideas that were shared with me. It is important that as educators, we do not forget what valuable resources we have in each other, just down the hallway from one another.

Relative Advantages of Video-Use in the Classroom
This week I had the opportunity to interview five of my coworkers and visit with them about how they utilize video in their respective positions. I was able to meet with educators from many areas of specialty, from classroom teachers and specialists, to administration.

It was interesting to listen to how the five different perspectives on integrating technology in the classroom from your school. I enjoyed watching how multimedia was integrated into the daily schedule. The staff at the school where you teach truly seems to actively use technology daily.

Thank you for your thoughts, Catherine. I truly feel lucky to teach with such wonderful people who value technology!
DeleteThank you for the various perspectives on using multi-media in the classroom. I think that interviewing people gives you a feel of the technology culture in your building. Also, you find out how much video is actually being comsumed by students. A point to remember is that children can create videos as well to show standards have been met, explain a process or to showcase their own learning in a creative platform using videos.
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right, Rebecca. Those are all great reasons to have students to create videos. One of the teachers in my video even alluded to those very same reasons. I personally love her philosophy "If they (the students) can teach it, then they own it." Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
